A UN envoy says that poverty levels in the UK are in violation of international law. Meanwhile, Suella Braverman wants to ban homeless people from sleeping in tents. Poverty is not a lifestyle choice. It is a political choice taken by this cruel and callous government.

Do try and remember that this is the man the media wanted to convince you was dangerous, not the capitalist death cult that got voted in instead… #corbynwasrobbed #toriesout #starmerisatory #peoplediedforyourrighttovotedontdisappointthem
It has been a wonderful joy to meet teachers and children in Gaza over the years – and learn from their empathy, curiosity and humanity. I don’t know if those teachers or children are still alive. I don’t know. Please, we need a ceasefire, now.

“Bitterness, hatred, utter dysfunction and a toxic culture in which women felt victims of misogyny. Whilst people were dying by the thousands.” The UKGovernment summarised; world beating dysfunction. Wales *needs* independence from this faded relic of Empire, let’s move on.
Amazing intro from Krishnan Guru-Murthy #CovidInquiry "The government during covid was a disgusting orgy or narcissism. And that was according to Boris Johnson himself as he struggled to deal with the pandemic and clashed with his advisers. Evidence from Dominic Cummings and Lee Cain today revealed the extent of government breakdown and incompetence during national crisis. And the extent to which the Prime Minister's closest aid held him in contempt, even while working for him. Text messages from the times showed bitterness, hatred, utter disfunction, and a toxic culture in which women felt victims of misogyny while people were dying by the thousands. Of course Cummings himself who took his famous eye test in Barnard castle, admitted doing no wrong, claiming he had broken no rules. Is the covid reckoning beginning at last?"

Johnson revealed as the most dangerous and incompetent PM in living memory. According to his own people.

The Tories are blaming NHS staff strikes for record NHS waiting lists. Like the claim of stopping 7 different bins for recycling, it's nonsense. Here's the facts on waiting list sizes ▪️7.6m today ▪️7.3m at start of strikes ▪️4.4m at start of Covid ▪️2.6m at start of Tory Govt

Whilst the financial implications are, in themselves, cause for concern, the real concern that I and many colleagues share is the likelihood that this decision will ultimately result in nurses putting themselves in danger as a consequence of reduced police input. This is wrong.

Tory Brexiteers promised an extra £350m a week for the NHS. Sunak is offering an extra £200m for the entire winter and thinks nobody will notice the discrepancy.

Starmer is a lawyer. He knows the majority who make crossings have valid claims to asylum. He knows it’s not illegal to arrive by small boats as per the UN refugee convention. He knows “securing borders” isn’t the answer to displacement. He’s as dangerous as he is disingenuous.
Labour will restore the security of Britain's borders. Good to be in The Hague to set out how.

Sunlit Uplands everyone. This is what happens when a bunch of corrupt, lying ideologues and spivs ‘take back control’ and con people into believing that a bag of sovereignty beans is worth more than prosperity, influence, sane governance and a functioning democracy.
This parliamentary term is on track to be by far the worst for living standards since the 1950s. Typical working age household incomes are on course to be 4% lower in 2024-25 than they were in 2019-20. Never in living memory have families got so much poorer over a parliament.

Caught an early screening of @MadmanFilms #scrapper with Things nos. 1 & 3 (las chicas) earlier. A great example of the potential of British filmmaking when supported by the @BFI, and a cracking directorial debut from Charlotte Regan. Strongly recommend 👏🏼
A funny, touching and daring feature debut by Charlotte Regan, Scrapper is a charming story about youth, imagination, and loss. In cinemas September 14. Starring Lola Campbell & Harris Dickinson.
