Haven’t been here in a while (The app is openly transphobic, and unsafe now) but wanted to share a story about an immigrant family I met this week in the subway that touched my heart and shows the human side of this political crisis created by anti-immigrant policies:

Saw a young woman and a very small baby with dirty clothes and timid eyes on the subway selling chocolates & gums. She told me she came from Ecuador TWO DAYS before. Was 21 & her baby, 1-year-old, and was already working & selling in the subway. Didn’t have a phone or even a pen

She’s staying in a family home. Didn’t know could even go to a shelter.
Some people criticize new immigrants with nativist and racist arguments. But this woman proves these families come here to work and fight for a better future for their families. Govt is failing them & all.
