Just a reminder that I’m basically done with this Nazi-loving site after 15 years. I’m at the other place now where my posts aren’t throttled and I’m picking up followers about 6 or 7 times faster than on X. The transition was MUCH easier than I expected. bsky.app/profile/sanho.bsky.…

NEW: Trump claimed that drugs entering the U.S. by sea have decreased by 97% due to illegal U.S. boat strikes. The administration’s own data contradicts this claim. “It wouldn’t be the first time this administration just made something up," said IPS scholar @SanhoTree.

NEW: Trump's claims that bombing civilian boats is curtailing the drug trade show a "fundamental misunderstanding" of the issue. “We don’t use missiles to address a public health problem,” IPS scholar @SanhoTree tells @nickturse in @theintercept: theintercept.com/2026/05/04/…

I just came here to say this. It’s going to be hilarious when X sends you an alert saying I haven’t posted in a while & you should check out what I’m saying.😂 BTW, it took me 15 months to get 15k followers at the other place. It took me 15 YEARS to get that many followers here.

Put another way, Trump cynically murdered more than 100 people in boats to provide cover for his military buildup & then killed 100 more in Venezuela to arrest his critic & steal Venezuela's oil. He now threatens Mexico, Colombia & Cuba in the region. This is World War Trump.
Trump's drug charges against Maduro and Venezuela are quicky debunked by IPS drug policy scholar @SanhoTree on @BBC. “These charges were fabricated to target a political enemy for political ends.”

NEW: Not only is there "certainly no fentanyl involved" between Venezuela and the U.S., but the region's most prolific drug traffickers have often in fact been U.S. allies. On @BBC, IPS drug policy scholar @SanhoTree dismantles Trump admin claims. Watch: ips-dc.org/video-the-worst-d…

I’m interviewed for this piece.

I don’t really post on this site anymore, but I wanted to share my Al Jazeera interview last night about Trump’s extrajudicial killings spree in international waters because of the urgency of the situation. Hegseth just announced his 10th attack. youtu.be/MVNn76XVby0?si=eO7T…

Tobacco will kill 480,000 people in the US this year according to the CDC. That’s SIX times more than all US drug overdose deaths COMBINED. Does that mean Trump should bomb the homes of tobacco executives in the US? Here’s my debate on Al Jazeera: youtu.be/OE8euBl1txY

The drug war acts like a “price support” for traffickers. Cartels are the last people who want the war to end. We will never make drugs disappear by making them astronomically more valuable. Stop amplifying the motivational feedback loop of the people you’re trying to stop.
Most drugs cost pennies per dose to manufacture. But the higher the risk to the smuggler — like the risk of getting arrested, or blown up — the more they can charge. In short, our policies are making trafficking more profitable, not less. @SanhoTree: otherwords.org/blowing-up-fi…
