Shamo was living with a permanent disability, dependent on family & unable to work since 2019 - then Swisscross surgeons, @SarkhellR & @ABerzenji performed a pelvic reconstruction of his bones and a total hip replacement.

Today we visited @MSF facility at Al Salam Hospital in Mosul, screening patients needing reconstructive surgery at the Swisscross complex care Centre in #Erbil.

Over 13 hours back to back @SarkhellR assisted by @ABerzenji and the Swisscross orthopaedic team completed the first two hip replacement at the Centre of Excellence for Complex Care in #Erbil including on one patient who had had 15 prior surgeries without success. 1/2
