Our hearts are heavy for those impacted by last nightās violence.
We urgently call for calm. Childrenās safety must be put first.
No child should have to flee home terrified for their familyās safety. No child should fear playing on the street or going to their youth club. No young person should be lured into violence by those with divisive agendas.
In this part of the world we know too well where violence leads; it scars childhoods, pits communities against each other and leaves a legacy of disadvantage and trauma for the next generation.
Together we must ensure every child gets to live in peace and safety.

Settlement expansion is uprooting families and leaving children without shelter, safety or basic services.
The UK must act now to end its complicity and protect childrenās rights.

Since the temporary ceasefire was announced in Lebanon, 290 children have been killed or injured by Israeli forces. On average, that's more than six children each day.
Children and families have spent months enduring horrific conditions, taking refuge in overcrowded collective shelters or living on the streets.
Children are telling us that theyāre afraid they might never be able to return to their homes after seeing videos or pictures of their villages and houses demolished or destroyed.
Our staff on the ground are seeing children who flinch dramatically at the slightest noise, while the constant presence of drones overhead leaves them in a state of ongoing alert, with no moment of calm or relief.
Children are not part of this conflict, theyāre caught in a cycle of violence they never chose. These horrors must not be normalised.
We need a definitive and lasting ceasefire to protect children and families from further harm and allow them to return safely to their homes and resume their lives.

Air raids across Ukraine last night reportedly killed two boys aged three and eight, and injured several other children, in what appears to be one of the worst attacks on the country in recent months.
This is a devastating reminder that children in Ukraine continue to bear the brunt of this war.
Children should not have to live in fear of endless attacks or spend countless hours sheltering in corridors and basements.
Despite playing no part in the conflict, they are paying the highest price.
Attacks on densely populated areas, civilians and civilian infrastructure ā including homes, schools and hospitals ā must stop.

There's an urgent need to scale up health services and infection prevention to protect children from the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Children make up 25% of the 17 confirmed Ebola deaths, and the number of real cases is likely to be significantly higher.
"Children are paying a devastating price, making up at least one in four confirmed deaths, although we suspected the numbers are far higher.

From Somalia to Afghanistan, aid cuts by countries like the UK are threatening to cripple our ability to respond to growing needs, with children bearing the brunt. This is what our teams are having to navigate every day.
The real test of commitments made in conference rooms in global capitals is whether they translate into lives saved and childrenās futures protected. While we have not signed the Global Partnerships Compact at this stage, we will continue to watch closely how it is used by the UK Government to drive real change for vulnerable children around the world.

Making bus travel free for children eases both family finances and gives older children a chance to see friends and travel to activities.
Particularly in small towns and rural parts of England this could open up new experiences for children and their families on low incomes and help them enjoy the summer break.
Measures to tackle the cost-of-living pressures are welcome and we would encourage more bold thinking like this from the Treasury when it comes to helping families cope.

Last month, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, visited the Smallshaw-Hurst Childrenās Community (SSH CC) in Ashton-under-Lyne, where he met volunteers, local residents, and our wider team.
During the visit, he spent time with our volunteers and saw the Cedar Park Pantry in action.
SSH CC was established through a partnership with Save the Children UK and continues to build on that foundation by supporting locally led, community-based approaches that strengthen relationships, reduce isolation, and improve outcomes for families.
One of the best examples of this is the Cedar Park Pantry, which is now an independent community-led initiative that supports Ashton-under-Lyne residents with affordable food.
We are grateful to everyone involved in making Smallshaw Hurst a place where communities come together and thrive.

Across Sudan, explosive weapons are leaving a devastating mark on civilians.
Thousands have been injured since the conflict began, with reports showing double the number of casualties from explosive weapons in 2025 compared to 2023.
But these are not battlefield injuries. They are happening to children. When playing with their friends, walking home from school, or at home with their families.

The UKās decision to halve its contribution to the Green Climate Fund is a huge disappointment and a short-sighted betrayal to children already experiencing the devastating impacts of the climate crisis.
The Green Climate Fund remains one of the most important and transformative global funds for supporting lower-income countries to adapt to climate change, strengthen resilience and pursue low-carbon development.
These cuts are not abstract. They will have real implications for existing programmes supporting children and for the ability of vulnerable countries and communities to prepare for and respond to escalating climate risks.
The decision also raises broader concerns about the UKās approach to international climate finance. Increasing reliance on creative accounting, while reducing direct contributions to dedicated climate funds, risks undermining trust and weakening the UKās credibility as a reliable partner to the Global South.
