Currently, the Tesso Nilo National Park is in grave danger. Only 150 elephants left and 85% of the park is now illegal palm oil plantation. Rangers also received death threats from local thugs.
Efforts are underway to restore Tesso Nilo to it's proper condition.

Tesso Nilo National Park in Riau is increasingly under threat. Of its 81,739 hectares, 40,000 hectares have been converted into illegal palm oil plantations.
Wildlife is also under threat. In fact, a male elephant is suspected to have been poisoned and its tusks stolen.
