Save Our Seine thanks MLA Rob Loiselle (St. Boniface) for your invitation to the Legislature this afternoon. We were honoured to be recognized marking the 30th anniversary of the SOS Summer Team which begins at the end of this month.
We were also grateful to receive this framed commemorative letter of congratulations. In attendance from SOS today were Ryan Palmquist, Anita Moyse, Laurie Ringaert, and Lindsay Kane.
On Earth Day, Save Our Seine’s Jeremy Mumford (VP) & @Palmquist88 (MD) were pleased to join other southeast community environmental orgs like Friends of @BishopGrandin Greenway, invited by Environment Minister @Tracy4Rossmere to the Legislature.
We at SOS are very encouraged by this direction and look forward to partnering with & supporting government and our peer environmental groups on this critical objective.
Pleased as well to see a strong turnout by our Seine River urban watershed MLAs like @jmoses6 , Rob Loiselle, @MikeMoyes4Riel , @Cross4Seine , @TBlashko , and many others from the "climate caucus".
Happy Earth Day!
SOS Managing Director @Palmquist88 on site with Save Our Seine’s consultant biologist Chris Penner (PrairieECO). We will be undertaking an exciting project in partnership with Winnipeg Water & Waste Department to test the utility of naturally occurring Duckweed (Lemnoideae) ...
This project represents the first in a series of new initiatives being planned which expand the scope of Save Our Seine’s stewardship into the broader urban watershed outside of the immediate river corridor.
The urban watershed has just as much and in some cases more impact on the condition of the river than what takes place on its banks. Thank you to The @wpgfdn for their generous grant to support this pilot. More details coming soon!
A chilly but fun morning, flagging & prepping invasive Buckthorn for extraction so the riparian peninsula across the Seine from Guay Ave can be restored with native species habitat. Thnx @cityofwinnipeg Parks & Open spaces staff for your support & collaboration w @SaveOurSeine
Fantastic presentation this morning by @umanitoba Landscape Architect students on their visions for “Creek Bend Park” located around the southern Seine River Greenway by St Anne’s & The Perimeter.
Thank you to Professor Dietmar Dietmar & all students for their fantastic engagement with SOS. Special acknowledgment of the hard work of the Creek Bend Residents Association’s Dave Watson, himself a former SOS President, for his tireless championing of a vision for this park.
Save Our Seine, represented today by VP Jeremy Mumford & MD Ryan Palmquist, is grateful for the opportunity to meet with @MarkusAChambers , one of our three Seine River Councillors at City Hall, and the one with the honour of having the Seine as the namesake of his ward!
We are very pleased with the open and responsive relationship we have had with Councillor Chambers, and congratulate him on his recent appointment to the @RedRiverBasin
We look forward to continuing collaboration on water quality and conservation issues in our shared watershed.
