A lump on the neck. That's all the initial report said 💔 . When this swan arrived with us, our veterinary team began investigating the cause of the swelling. Sadly, the answer was all too familiar. An X-ray revealed a pellet embedded in her neck. Someone, somewhere, had fired a catapult or similar weapon at this legally protected bird. The pellet narrowly missed causing catastrophic injuries, and she was incredibly lucky to survive. This is exactly why we work alongside Naturewatch Foundation as part of their **Target Crime, Not Wildlife** campaign. Every year, we see the devastating consequences of wildlife persecution, with animals injured, maimed and killed by weapons that are far too easily obtained and used against wildlife. For this swan, the outcome could have been very different. Instead of spending this time of year out on the water, potentially preparing to raise a family of her own, she is recovering in a hospital enclosure because of a completely preventable act of cruelty. No wild animal should have to endure this. Please join us in supporting calls for stronger legislation around the sale and possession of catapults and other weapons commonly used to harm wildlife. Together, we can help ensure fewer animals suffer injuries like this in the future. Find out more at naturewatch.org

Pipkins walks well on his lead and is very sociable with people and other dogs. He is a small boy but with a big heart and, dare we say it, that "terrier attitude". Pipkins will need a fully enclosed garden and a home where he can have company. gspca.ie/pages/pet/pipkins

Meet Evita & Clint who are a beautiful bonded pair of Great Danes. Can you please share for Teddy? Teddy is a 4 year old male Cockapoo. He is available and looking for a new home. Teddy would be suitable to a man who is looking for a companion. He seems to listen to men more than women. He hasn't been around other dogs/children. Teddy eats both wet and dry food and sleeps in his own bed at night. He can pull on the lead to begin with but soon settles down into his walk. Teddy travels well in the car, he likes to poke his head out the window for some fresh air. He is also registered at the vets and up to date with all of his vaccinations. Teddy loves treats and chews. He also likes the occasional cooked meat or cheese. His recall is good if you have something he likes. Teddy is familiar with boarding kennels and settles in with no issues. He is groomed every 6-8 weeks and is always well behaved. He will go to his new home with everything to settle him in. Teddy is not destructive and can be left alone. He would suit a male only household with no other pets. For more information please email info@help2rehome.com Sorry we are unable to reply to messages or comments to the page. Please only apply if you match the criteria above for Teddy.

Brian May didn't just donate money to animal welfare. He personally purchased British farmland and forests with his own money ~ and converted them into permanent wildlife sanctuaries. He resigned from the RSPCA for not doing enough. He refuses to play Glastonbury over badgers. The Save Me Trust is not a side project. It is Brian May's second career. Most rock stars put their name on a charity. Brian May buys farmland for his. The Save Me Trust was founded in 2009 by Brian May and conservationist Anne Brummer — originally to campaign against the possible repeal of the Hunting Act in the UK. It has never stopped growing since. Today Save Me Trust campaigns against fox hunting, the badger cull, factory farming, live export, trophy hunting, driven grouse shooting, the use of snares, and the captivity of orcas and other cetaceans. But what most people don't know — is what Brian May has funded personally. The Save Me Trust manages private land ~ purchased and protected specifically for this purpose by Brian May himself. Land that was previously wilderness-deprived commercial forest or farmland. Enhanced. Restored. Converted into wildflower meadows. Protected permanently. The Trust operates alongside Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue ~ which rehabilitates injured British wildlife and releases them back into the wild through secure soft-release sites that Brian May's funding helps maintain. In 2023 ~ Proud Galleries presented a £5,000 cheque to Save Me Trust ~ generated from ticket sales and book signings at Brian May's Stereoscopy Is Good For You exhibition in London. Every event Brian May does ~ feeds back into the animals. He resigned from the RSPCA as Vice President in 2024 ~ publicly ~ because he felt even they weren't doing enough. He refuses to perform at Glastonbury because its co-founder supports badger culling. He has addressed Parliament directly. Led protests through London. Fronted BBC documentaries. Funded research. Bought countryside. A man who once played to 250,000 people in Brazil — Spends significant portions of his personal fortune buying British farmland. To give Hedgehogs somewhere safe to sleep. Thank you for caring for the animals @DrBrianMay 🙏.

Can we please ask you to Share for Axl? He’s not had any enquiries at all. We cover the whole of Scotland and beyond for the right home. Axl is a 1.5 year old German Shepherd Cross Rottweiler.  He is good with older kids but will bark at other dogs.  Axl is in need of a new home through no fault of his own.  He is chipped and chemically neutered.  Axl is healthy with no medical issues.  He eats a mix of wet and dry food and is also crate trained.  He sleeps in his crate and is registered at the vets.  Axl is okay in the car and will bark at people to begin with but will settle.  He would be best without other dogs or cats in a home.  Ideally he would suit someone who can give him further training.  Axl is vaccinated.  For more information or to offer a new home please email info@help2rehome.com

Legs crossed, eyes closed in bliss, Bondeni is in his happy place. He’s earned himself a nickname: Our “Slow Drinker” takes at least twice as long as the other orphans to finish his milk bottles. So long, in fact, that there’s even a changing of the guard between Keepers looking after him. They have to be vigilant, as the other orphans tend to cluster round. He’s seven years old so, soon, he’ll be weaned off milk as he prepares for his eventual life in the wild. Remind yourself of how far he’s come already: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/o…

After tourists reported him with a snare around his neck, it took two days of aerial patrols to find this snared giraffe. But we didn’t give up. As soon as he was located, our helicopter flew the SWT/KWS Southern Vet Unit to the scene. Dr Lawi darted the giraffe from the air, then ground teams took over and roped him down for treatment. Even by giraffe standards, this was a particularly daunting operation - this giraffe was notably large and pumping with adrenaline. Watch to see why they are already among the most challenging creatures to treat, and see how donations funded this lifesaving operation. Be a part of more lifesaving treatments by donating: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/d…

Do elephants remember who was kind to them? Yes – and across decades. Our ex-orphans return to the stockades long after they've gone wild, recognise specific Keepers by name, and bring their wild-born calves home to introduce them. They even come back for help. Last month, Melia walked her new daughter Moon to our Ithumba Reintegration Unit – sixteen years after we rescued her. She came back so the people who raised her could meet her calf.

In 300 (2006), Gerard Butler was told to say “THIS IS SPARTA!” calmly. He tried it, but it felt wrong. He asked Zack Snyder for one take where he screamed it. After, Butler asked, “Too much?” Snyder laughed: “Yeah… but it was awesome.”

What's the greatest movie "behind-the-scenes" fact you know?
