Ditch Daylight Saving Time. Permanent Standard Time lets us sleep later for health, mood, safety, education, economy, environment. We’re a 501(c)(4) nonprofit.
🚨 US House Energy/Commerce Committee today amended the Sunshine Protection Act into the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act. If approved by Congress, it would mandate permanent Daylight Saving Time in all states that don’t self-exempt in advance, with no option for exemption after taking effect. 🧐 Permanent DST is a mandate to start work/school an hour earlier than Standard Time in unnatural darkness all winter. It would put sunrise in most states past 8am for 3 months, and past 8:45am for 1 weeks. It chronically deprives sleep, decreases productivity (by 5%), and increases illnesses and accidents (by 20%). It was last implemented in the US in 1974 and repealed the same year following deaths and disruptions to commerce. 👉 Tell your US House reps asap to amend MVMA (H.R.7389) to remove SPA (H.R.139) or to reword for nationwide restoration of permanent Standard Time with a clearer option for the minority of states to choose unhealthy/unsafe permanent DST by advancement of their own time zones if so strongly desired (though why DST proponents don’t simply start their own days an hour early remains boggling).

Our ancestors knew. Our ancestors understood. Even before mechanized timekeepers, when the hour of the day was determined by gnomon and dial, they had a grasp of the effect time has upon us. They knew the importance of attuning one’s existence with our celestial star, the life-sustaining force for our planet, thus they created methods to accentuate that attunement. An aspect of that was establishing ‘noon’ when the sun was at its highest point in the sky.
We were living on Nature’s time, with our solar companion directing our activities—our days and seasons—and it was the standard. We started our productivity soon after the sun’s rising, and prepared to unwind as it began to set; this manifested springs and summers of growth and vitality, autumns and winters of rest and rejuvenation. Elders wisely led, adults rigorously built, and children thrived in body and spirit… all by the rhythms of the sun.
Exactly…

Secretary Kennedy, good sleep is essential to natural health. Daylight Saving Time harms us, permanent DST harms us more, and permanent Standard Time is most beneficial. I’d love to share more! x.com/SaveStandard/status/20…

Is 'Daylight Saving' a Public Health Problem?
Experts say the debate should not be about whether to change the clocks, but which time we should live by
Amy Sapola
May 29, 2026
Most Americans remember the old memory hack, “Spring forward, fall back,” but few know why we change our clocks twice a year – or have thought seriously about whether we should keep doing it.
Yes, you lose an hour of sleep in March. It’s more difficult to wake up. Your commute is darker. Your body feels off. And then, in October or November, you gain back that hour and a little more sunlight, and sometimes forget and are early or late to a meeting? Who needs the hassle?
But Jay Pea, founder and president of Save Standard Time, says the country has been asking the wrong questions.
The real issue is not just whether America should stop changing the clocks. It is: Which clock should we choose to live by?
There are two current options: Standard Time or Daylight Saving Time…
🚨 @RepYoungKim (R-CA) now sponsors “Sunshine Protection”, mandating permanent DST (which CA Lege voted down in 2022). Would put CA sunrise past 8am more than 3 months. Cost lives when last tried. 👉 Permanent Standard Time is needed instead, for health, safety, productivity!

—Solar time honestly measures the sun.
—Standard Time approximates solar time across a zone.
—Daylight Time sets clocks an hour fast, to make us set alarms an hour early every morning!
ALT Title reads “Standard Time is closer to nature”. Three clocks are shown, one for Little Rock mean solar time (set to 12:00), one for Central Standard Time (set to 12:09) one for Central Daylight Time (set to 1:09). Subtitle reads “Alignment to solar time naturally benefits health, safety, education, economy.”
Daylight Saving Time (DST) proponents do not understand human circadian rhythms. DST does not steal just one hour of sleep per year. For nearly 8 out of 12 months it shifts sleep away from solar time to artificial time, with proven, long-term health and safety repercussions.
@KimIversenShow this is such an important issue. The federal govt is moving to permanently steal an hour of our time to please their lobbyists. It’s insane. Pls have @mr_jay_pea on to help stop the DST madness!
Dear @RepMGS: Permanent Daylight Saving Time would put sunrise past 8am more than 3 months in PA and most states. Morning light is essential for health, safety, education, economy. As a member of Rules Committee, please remove it from the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act, thanks!

Please amend the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act to remove or rewrite the unrelated Sunshine Protection Act.
The Sunshine Protection Act would mandate permanent DST in all states that don’t pre-exempt, and it would remove the option to self-exempt upon enactment.
We have two suggested rewrites: one for permanent Standard Time only (best), another for permanent Standard Time first, plus optional permanent DST (for the minority of states seeking it). savestandardtime.com/legisla…
This has been my stance for years - I'm ready to be done with switching the clocks twice the a year, but it has to be for permanent standard time. If the alternative is permanent daylight saving time, then keep switching.
We have a draft bill for permanent Standard Time only, and one for permanent Standard Time first plus an option for permanent DST (for the minority of states seeking it). Send to your congress members directly, ask them to file as an amendment or a new bill! savestandardtime.com/legisla…

Coalition for Permanent Standard Time urges Congress to strip permanent daylight time language from H.R. 7389
DARIEN, IL – The Coalition for Permanent Standard Time today called on Congress to remove language from H.R. 7389, the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act, that would advance permanent daylight saving time nationwide. The proposal, drawn from the Sunshine Protection Act, would negatively affect sleep, school mornings, work commutes and public safety. The language was added as part of a broad transportation bill moving through Congress.
Ending the twice-a-year clock change remains a goal shared by many Americans, but choosing permanent daylight saving time would create extremely late sunrises in winter, meaning much darker, colder and harder starts for millions of families, students and workers.
“Americans deserve an honest discussion before Congress permanently changes the clock for nearly every home, school and workplace in the country,”…
“Permanent Daylight Saving Time would make the sun not rise until 8:30 or 9am. It would especially harm schoolchildren, construction workers, and farmers. Unless we’re willing to adopt permanent Standard Time, there’s not much to be done.” @SenTomCotton October 2025 👏 Thank you!
