Wondering about bias in community science data? Here is an example from St. Louis.
On the left is a Racial Dot Map, on the right are iNaturalist observations of squirrels.
Squirrels are abundant in the northern part of the city but there are no recorded observations.

In all seriousness, read what @jkpritch has to say here. This is an scientifically inaccurate and, because of the topic, incredibly dangerous presentation of genetic variation and race. @Nature and @AllofUsResearch should retract this paper.

It's a pity that All of Us used UMAP to visualize ancestry variation in their new marker paper, out today in Nature.
The UMAP algorithm, by design, exaggerates the distinctiveness of the most frequent ancestries, a message that can be misinterpreted by the public.

We found that anole species living in more complex habitats had more neurons in their telencephalon and midbrain/hindbrain regions. 🧠
Habitats that are more complex have greater structural heterogeneity, which constrained lizard movement to a greater degree.🌳🌾🎋

These results suggest that habitat complexity potentially selects for interspecific differences in neuroanatomy in Puerto Rican anoles.
Further studies are needed to see if this pattern holds across other anole radiations!
