#HumbleBrag Alley alignment in research plots (If only the plants weren’t temp leaning due to windstorms)

4-5” of rain in a weeks time is not doing me any favors for ponding / water retention on research plots And the 40 mph winds means I need to take apart and reassemble at least 1 weather station That wasn’t on my bingo card for today

Planning & scheming is great… but sometimes luck helps too Orange stakes mark last experiment. The corn to the left with excessive water log is filler There’s a project to the north that flirts with the water line… but most of touching water should be front or side border

It’s that time of year …. Where everyone has reasonable requests of me and my time, but I do not have enough time for everybody’s reasonable requests…. 😢

Me to me: why can to find these seeds of mine from 2011? …. Checks inventory…. Oh, they’re in agron hall (archive cold room)… guess I put some of my own stocks there once upon a once …

Know what’s great? These ratchet wrenches I picked up to adjust specific parts on the planter It’s like a socket set and a wrench

Me to me: Let’s be a good tractor operator & map and drive pass 1 quick sans seed to make sure you fit in this new field, that has an unusual shape to it (when planting at heading of 90°)… 😬Oh…. Wait… juuuust barely fits I’m sure I’ll get some eye roll from farm services😳

Dear Future Lisa: Add to your maps how much space you meant to leave for turn radius…. You left too much on the start side and pushed a little deeper than you wanted into a potential low spot in the field :/

Serenity now… insanity later…. Figuring out someone else’s print system so we can go from our envelopes to their clams…. There are patterns, but of course ‘jumps in patterns’…. Plus some extra clams ‘in case any are are missing… check here’…

In other planting stories.. Past Lisa ‘coming in clutch’ with all her photos to document various ‘how to’ for tractor and planter … Helps me out since I only use the tractor and planter for about 2-3 weeks each May… that’s a rough learning curve

Had to call company planter service technician today between planting maps… he gave a very valid explanation… but essentially…. And whadya know… it worked 🤣

Whoever said ‘no use crying over spilled seed’ hasn’t knocked over a box of maize genetics seed packet stocks of mutational events & BC series from early 2000’s (so sometimes min genotype written on the packet) Luckily it’s just 1/4 of the box that fell out and I need to re-org

Good news: Current Lisa remembered she needed to watch a video about 2-row plot mapping before she made a map Better news: past Lisa kept the video to a ‘tight’ 3.5 min length 🎉🎉 Not surprising news: Current Lisa was still slightly annoyed with minor prattle on 😆

Driving home…. All of the thoughts about to do a ‘work around’ on the seed counter… And then trying to dictate to Siri to have enough ‘same track of train of thought’… The work around isn’t perfect, but it might be ‘ok enough’ to make some prep work easier next week🤔

PSA One video shows 2 blinking lights = tractors driving on the road Other video is just 1 blinking light = the tractor is going to turn left That is NOT the time to attempt to pass them #FarmSafety #RoadSafety
