Nigeria is a reflection of the people in it. Someone shot his shot at Victor Osimhen for a jersey and even tagged a vendor. Osimhen saw it and said he’d personally send one. 
Then told the vendor to add 15 more jerseys for others. -That’s where it got interesting.- Immediately money entered, the story changed. The vendor suddenly said Osimhen told him to share it himself. 
He claimed he had already picked 15 people. —Then it got worse—
He called the same person who brought him the business a scam. From there, he tried to “negotiate”:
7 for the guy, 8 for himself. Greed, plain and simple. The guy refused and asked for all 15 jerseys as instructed. —Next thing— 
The vendor switched again.
Said the post was “stolen” and brought another person to justify it. —Now here’s the real problem— Instead of people calling out the wrong,
they started defending it. “Make una settle.”
“Na just jersey.”
“Let it go.” - Someone even offered to pay extra, 
rewarding bad behavior. And that’s when it becomes clear: We are not different from the people we complain about in power. —This is how it starts— 
small compromise, small dishonesty, small defense of wrong. Nigeria didn’t just become this way overnight. 
We built it, little by little, with everyday actions like this. Truth is, many people are only “good” because they’ve not had the opportunity to do worse. One day, we will have an honest conversation about the double standards on this TL. One day.

Meanwhile what intelligence gathering ACTUALLY looks like is: "Let's eat suya by the pool at the U.S. Consul-General's residence in Ikoyi and gist about the current state of Nigeria. I will listen attentively as you provide me with seemingly minute and unimportant details like how the new passport issuance system is fast, or how police threatened to shoot your cousin last week, or which politician you think has the solutions to Nigeria's problems. "Over the course of this month, I will have similar conversations with 300 other Nigerians drawn from every stratum of Nigerian society, and at the end of the month, one of the Cultural Attaches at the embassy will compile all this primary data and use it to build a country status report that will be submitted to the State Department in DC via diplomatic cable. "These country status reports provide my boss in DC with more insight into and visibility over what exactly is happening on the ground in Nigeria than even the Nigerian government and its intelligence apparatus does. This way, my employer is always ahead of the curve and knows how to position itself or use its influence to shift things in a particular direction in Nigeria. "For example, if a political outsider who represents a threat to my interests in Nigeria starts becoming politically relevant and popular, long before he gets to the ballot box I have already primed my networks in DC to investigate him and find information intended to damage his campaign, such as offshore accounts etc. Then my media assets in DC, New York and London can publish "Pandora Papers" to tarnish his brand in 2021, a whole year before he even officially declares for the presidency." That's what "intelligence gathering" generally means in the real world, abobi. There's even a term for this specific scenario I've described: HUMINT (Human Intelligence). But of course you've never come across any of this (freely available information) because you dey fear paragraph and knowledge is for nerds. Being dumb and uninformed is cool. You people are living in a world you don't even understand. That's why you keep losing.
