2/2 Pupil Ashton said “It’s great to build things with our hands and gain skills. Our generation usually just buy things from Amazon. The men and us both get a lot out of this.” The men have also brought some old lathes back to life and have been upskilling teachers.

1/2 SMSA visited Badenoch Shed. They have use of Kingussie High School's techie dept & are are working in partnership with In Real Life Education with some pupils building Coracles. This is a craft, heritage & traditional skills project with the Shed & young people working 👍

SMSA visited Fintry Men's & Hen's Shed, joined by Orchy & Awe Men’s Shed, to see an inspiring example of a thriving community hub. It was great to hear how the Shedders transformed their premises through funding, recycled materials & community support👍

SMSA conducted a public meeting in Thurso on Tuesday evening to gauge interest in starting a new Shed. Ten enthusiastic men chose committee volunteers, set up a WhatsApp group & chatted potential venues 👍 Their first meeting is on Sat 27 Jun @ 2pm @ @ThursoCDT 👍

Fraserburgh Shed is all signed up for Shed Open Doors 2026. During Men’s Health Week (15–21 Jun), they will open their doors on Mon 15 June for a day & evening session (to allow working men to participate) from 10am-2pm & 6-9pm. There will also be a talk on Fishing for Litter 👍

SMSA visited Lybster Shed to discuss premises, funding, SCIO, Shed-Wise, Shed Open Doors, the National Gathering, H&S & the Shed's impact. Recent projects inc. bird boxes, playpark benches, golf markers & a photography group. An Orkney Shed visit left them with #Shedenxy!

SMSA visited Glenurquhart MS & discussed insurance, premises, health, funding, their new dust extraction system & Shed-Wise sessions. The Shed's new kindling machine is creating 20 bags per hour & they're busy making benches & planters for the local mobile barber! 👍

The Aberdeenshire MS Network took place at Fraserburgh MS with the theme of utilities & energy saving. 11 Sheds attended along with the SMSA and presenters Rachel Yule, CARES Local Energy Scotland and Vicky Prendergast, Co-op Community Engagement 👍

2/2 Talk focused on governance, an existing community organisation supporting a shed group, & the development of taster sessions to encourage local involvement. Really encouraging progress, with two attendees already stepping forward to take on the roles of Chair and Secretary 👍

1/2 Great visit to the developing Oban Community Shed group at Oban Youth Cafe alongside committed partners. Positive discussions with reps from @argyllandbute, @GRAB (Group for Recycling Argyll & Bute), the local Development Trust, & LORI (Lorn and Oban Reuse Initiative) 👍
