A Director contacted a participant in ScreenPit for a read and the writer is EXCITED!!!!
Also, another project got a read request from a Producer with a first look deal at a streamer that we'll announce later!
Keep DM's (and hearts) open!
There have been opinions about ScreenPit since we started 3 1/2 years ago. It's your right to have an opinion but please don't ruin the screenwriter event for other people.
When we first started we had nasty pushback by people who work in Hollywood
We made a list of those naysayers so we knew who wasn't on our side
People were downright mean
Here's what ScreenPit does for writers & whether you agree it's a good thing or not, it doesn't matter to us
We offer a chance for screenwriters to connect with Industry professionals to get their work in front of decision makers
Most of our ScreenPitters aren't repped, don't have access to producers and are damn good writers
Is it risky to post log lines publicly? Possibly but we also enter contests, post on ISA, Ink Tip, Stage 32, Script Revolution, Coverfly -- all where log lines are available
If you are so far into the Hollywood/Studio way of having your work sent out by your rep to high level producers, ScreenPit is not for you
If you're guarding your high concept log lines, ScreenPit is not for you and that's fine
I have personally curated a list of 800 Industry Pros (at my own expense) and keep it updated. I use my own contacts in the industry and send out a mailer to these people the morning of ScreenPit to ask them to stop by the bulletin board that is # ScreenPit to see all the wonderful log lines
I'm proud of our community and the bravery it takes to list projects publicly whether it's First Page Friday or ScreenPit
This event teaches writers to polish log lines, be accessible, get promo materials ready, and also gives writers a sense that they are not alone in their journey
Every time we do this event, we have writers who are asked for reads
This is a good start to building a relationship with Industry Pros
This week, we had 5 writers contacted so far
But I guarantee you every participant upped their log line game & had fun
So
Whether you're a pro at poster making, log line crafting or screenwriting, I'm proud that you put yourself out there and leveled up this week
Go ScreenPit!
