If you’ve experienced relapses on your path to recovery, that’s okay. Just don’t let those mistakes haunt you forever. Instead ask yourself what you’re going to do about it. Learn to grow from your mistakes, don’t let them consume you

If you’re struggling try to remember that recovery is all about progress, not perfection. Recovery looks different for everyone and everyone in recovery faces obstacles along the way.

Well played mate .
19 years ago I finally summoned up the courage to say three words that would change my life: “I need help.” Thank you to all the selfless people who have helped me on my journey through sobriety. I am eternally grateful ❤️

Part of the philosophy, the way I live now, and I have done for a very long time, is to try to live in the moment. Not just — it began with a way of not drinking, like today, just today, just this hour, I'll make it through this hour without having a drink. 2/3

I've been sober for 19 years so I've been sober quite a long time now. Drinking isn't really the issue. It's more about thinking. It's more like, I have a think problem than a drink problem, but of course it could become a drink problem very quickly. 1/3

It doesn't feel like that anymore, but there's a great advantage to trying to live in the day and experience life as it arrives and as it shows up. I think that feels, to me, like an authentic and desirable way to get through this thing called life 3/3

I highly recommend the movie Clean and Sober, if you haven’t already seen it. It’s not a story of an ideal recovery from drug or alcohol addiction, because Michael Keaton’s character is not an ideal candidate for recovery. He tells too many lies, especially to himself, and he doesn’t much like to accept advice. He is still somewhat seduced by the notion that he can do some repairs on his old lifestyle, and it will still work. But by the end of the movie there is some hope that he may be able to get straight.

As I often say to those struggling at the beginning of sobriety: It gets easier. 19 years sober and I still get the occasional difficult day, but I wouldn't trade them for anything. Sobriety has changed every aspect of my life for the better ❤️
