Why is there this tower in Lightcliffe? How old is it? Who owns it? Why is there scaffolding around it? Answers can be found in this @friendschurches booklet The Tower at Old St Matthews, Lightcliffe (Booklet (Small))

The replacement stone plinths have to be lifted up on a special hoist as the contractors continue to rebuild the Lightcliffe tower cupola.

And what a wonderful job Friends of St Matthew’s Churchyard do looking after everything!
On 3 March 1854 #AnnWalker was buried in a vault in the old now demolished St. Matthew's Church. In the 1860s a pulpit was put over the Walker vault (and the brass plaque placed in a nearby window recess.) This 2024 ledger stone now marks the spot.
