Excited to share our paper in Estuaries and Coasts (tinyurl.com/3ree52mj)! If you're interested in dissolved & particulate organic matter in estuaries, check it out! We found river discharge and terrestrial DOM were key while POM was both terrestrial and phyto dominated. (1/3)

A big thank you to my co-authors (incl. @closburn) for sticking through the process! This is the 3rd chapter of my dissertation - it's amazing how far this story has come since I defended (sometimes things take time...) and I'm excited to see it out!

In a first of its kind study, Drs. Cayelan Carey (@CareyLab) and Alexandria Hounshell (@Seashells1111) of @VT_Biology have found that oxygen levels in lakes & reservoirs have significant effects on concentrations of CO^2 and methane in the atmosphere 🌌 vtnews.vt.edu/articles/2020/…

Excited to see our work in #ASLO_Letters highlighted by @vtnews this AM (tinyurl.com/y696l9mf)! We conducted a 3-yr whole-ecosystem experiment & found higher CH4 in the bottom waters of reservoirs with depleted oxygen (anoxia) vs reservoirs with oxygenated bottom waters (1/4)

This is one of the 1st studies to show this using a whole-ecosystem manipulation experiment and could not have been completed without collaboration with the Western VA Water Authority and co-authors @CareyLab, @ryan_mclake, and @MEL_phytos! (Note: photo from Summer 2019 : ) (3/4)
