Tell us again how the actions that would allow us to avoid the #ClimateCrisis were β€œtoo expensive.” None of the record-breaking, historic or β€œ100 year” events we’ve been seeing a lot of lately are the β€œnew normal.” Because it’s actually going to keep getting exponentially worse.

City councilmember, chair of the transportation committee, wants to spend $2M to *remove * a safety improvement because he’s upset he could not make an illegal turn in front of his kid preschool. Everything is fine in Seattle politics…

This is the β€œwall” that he wants to remove. Turning left here would require to cross 2 lanes of traffic a bi-directional bike lane… I’m sure drivers will always check and yield to cyclists coming from the 2 directions when trying to squeeze between cars

Another Google street view picture : because of the Toronto-style bus stop, the visibility on the bike lane is limited due to stopped buses, people waiting, or just the fact that the bike lane is behind the shelter, so this safety improvement is important.

I attended a corporate event in downtown Seattle with colleagues, mostly from Silicon Valley. Many were quite surprised I commuted by bus instead of driving. Why would I want to be stuck in traffic and pay $18 for parking? If the venue had secure bike parking I would have biked.

PSA: Every intersection is a legal crosswalk under Washington law… maybe it’s time for some enforcement of this law… Video of a driver completely ignoring a pedestrian crossing the street in Tangletown.

Trying to find the 520 trail from Montlake is like a treasure hunt. Did I miss some signs? the bike route is pointing directly to the construction area with no detour… CC @wsdot

Good progress here, flashing beacons to cross Lake Washington Boulevard were being installed on Saturday and the trail connecting to Montlake is now open (the bridge going to the 520 trail was not yet open though)

There is some real demand for safe crosswalks on Stone Way, a street with more and more apartments and businesses. Pictures of a petition for safe crossing at 36th, a temporary crosswalk at 42nd and a crosswalk sign broken by a crash at 43rd st

Over the weekend, drivers will need to take a detour to bypass the Ballard Bridge. It's worth noting that many cyclists face this inconvenience year-round due to narrow sidewalks and fast-moving traffic
The Ballard Bridge will CLOSE TO DRIVERS this weekend for maintenance & preservation work from 10 PM Friday, October 11 to 5 AM Monday, October 14. Driving? PLEASE plan to use the Aurora Bridge. Fremont Bridge WILL BE CONGESTED! Walking, biking, & transit may be a better option.

Hard to get intersections β€œdaylighted” near schools, but if someone parks a RV in a street you get a free concrete block.

🌧️ 🚲 First rainy bicycle commute to our elementary school. What a mess! Complete gridlock around school, cars parked on crosswalks, parked on school bus zones or literally blocking intersections to drop kids. Can we do better?
