So 4 days to go to release and "Umberfunk" is track 11. A little nod to @bootsy_collins and Funkadelic, Parliament etc. along with @graham_c_walsh and the work on two of my favourite bands @chkchkchk and @holyfuck
3 days to go....🥹. This is "K.O.I." originally a song idea 30 years ago the title (Killer of Insects) and original lyrics of which were written by an old school friend, Duncan Harris, who runs/is @deadendthrills
The lyrics have changed and the music has evolved into a @royalblooduk meets @rageagainstthemachine style track but the spirit of anti-greed and anti-fascism is still strong with this one. Play it LOUD!!!
So "worn" is track 10 of the new album. If The National and Trent Reznor hooked up this is kind of the love child product.
Originally was going to be drumless but did include one kick and a snare later just to reinforce the relentless pressure that the subject of the song feels.
Track 7 closes the first half of the new album.
"Burning Sky" (which we are all inevitably going to be under) is a Massive & spacey desertrock soundscape similar to Kyuss…Fu Manchu…Monster Magnet…QOTSA
…with some King Crimson/Jethro Tull proggy influences and JT's chance to play with some tripped out FX to bring this psychedlic whirlwind of a track into it's own.
JT: Well it's as close to country music as I dare go but I can't deny it's a catchy lighthearted sing-a-long. Had to add some sneaky crunchy synths even in this one 😉
