Privately build a secure bitcoin signing device for less than most HWWs (all software/designs are FOSS). GPG: 4673 9B74 B56A D88F 14B0 882E C7EF 7090 0726 0119
I just got my first WEEDsigner!π₯π₯π₯ Open source for the win!!!
Bet you weren't expecting this fork @SeedSigner !!!! π π€£π
@copiaro is based.
SeedSigner is as much about leveraging the power of multisig and a UX that catalyzes an understanding of private key management, as it is about supply chain risk mitigation and improved privacy.
6/7 - The grant list reads like a privacy-and-self-custody roadmap.
@fedimint. @RoboSats. @SeedSigner. @selfcustodykrux.
Each one funded specifically because it makes Bitcoin harder to surveil or seize.
Similarly to early bitcoin faucets, our most enthusiastic users often print and give away SeedSigner enclosures to others, sometimes even giving complete kits and built signers away b/c they want others to have the experience of using one. π§‘

The first Bitcoin faucet goes live.
@GavinAndresen builds it on Google App Engine. The site hands out 5 BTC to anyone who solves a captcha. He calls it his first Bitcoin coding project.

One of the brilliant aspects of @keithmukai's work on microcontroller support is that we can continue to maintain a unified codebase that can give even the earliest Pi Zero builders access to new features and UI/UX improvements -- no SeedSigner users will be left behind! π§‘
I actually spent most of my time refining how the screen works on the Pi Zero hardware. Just lots of little improvements that most people wouldn't notice.
We'll eventually get to a Pi Zero release that uses these new screens.
Then a full esp32-P4 / S3 microcontroller release.

No company. No custody. No compromise.
SeedSigner is an open-source, air-gapped Bitcoin signing device you build yourself from off-the-shelf parts, under $50 total. Every line of code is auditable. Every component is replaceable. No one holds your keys but you.

After about 5 mins of searching on Amazon and AliExpress. Total is $30.18 with ~$20 left for tax and shipping. It's close, but doable, especially if you already happen to have a USB cable and microSD card around (like most people do).
Another huge win for @SeedSigner running* on a microcontroller: we can build touchscreen-native from the start!
Text entry is just SO MUCH BETTER on a touchscreen vs the joystick-based entry we currently have.

Not your keys. Not your coins.
Sesi built SeedSigner to make that more than a slogan: an open-source, air-gapped Bitcoin signing device anyone can assemble from off-the-shelf hardware for under $50.
Self-custody isn't a niche interest. It's what makes Bitcoin different from every monetary system that came before it.
SeedSigner puts that foundation in anyone's hands.

The best part? Barteringgg!
@max_bitcoiner and I traded a Fiat Slayer tshirt for a very cool @SeedSigner bag charm & a mirror with the βΏ made of melted seashells.
Many people were eyeing this beauty for the whole day. Glad I got to swoop it away at the last moment π

Since getting mine I realized itβs not just about security. Itβs an awesome learning tool/skill to have. Shoutout for having the best user experience too. The menus and on screen text actually use the entire screen, unlike some other devices out there.
