We just lived through the hottest years in human history. And it’s getting worse. As @antonioguterres warned, every climate indicator is flashing red. This is not a distant threat. This is the world as it is. The good news: we have a way out. No price spikes for sunlight. No embargoes on the wind. #ClimateAction #StateOfClimate
In this age of war our addiction to fossil fuels is destabilizing the climate, global economy & global security. Now more than ever, we must accelerate a just transition to renewable energy. Renewables deliver climate security, energy security & national security.

The past eleven years have been the hottest on record. Every fraction of a degree brings greater harm – especially to the most vulnerable. This #WorldEnvironmentDay, warning signals are everywhere. This is the moment to act for our environment & for our future.

El Niño is arriving on our doorstep in the coming months with 90% certainty. The world must treat it as the urgent climate warning it is. The only effective response is #ClimateAction equal to the crisis – ending the addiction to fossil fuels, accelerating the shift to renewables, protecting the most vulnerable, and delivering early warning systems for all. wmo.int/resources/publicatio…

As the situation in the #StraitOfHormuz shows, a global economy built on fossil fuels is inherently volatile & unstable. "Transitioning away from fossil fuels is no longer just a climate imperative, it's an economic & development imperative." Selwin Hart, @UN #ClimateAction Team

For decades, dependence on fossil fuels meant dependence on volatility. In past oil shocks, countries had little choice but to absorb the pain.  Now they have an exit ramp: Homegrown renewable energy has never been cheaper, more accessible, or more scalable. The resources of the clean energy era cannot be blockaded or weaponized. There are no price spikes for sunlight & no embargoes on the wind.   The fastest path to energy security, economic & national security is clear: Speed up a just transition away from fossil fuels & toward renewable energy.

It was a privilege to deliver remarks at the 11th edition of the annual Energy Summit, where I emphasized that Europe’s leadership has never been more essential.   The world is facing a decisive moment.   Europe must choose: accelerate the shift to clean, secure, homegrown energy — or remain vulnerable to crises they cannot control. Grid upgrades, affordable finance, resilient supply chains & a just transition aren’t optional. They’re the path to stability.   The moment to accelerate is now.   #EnergyTransition #CleanEnergy  #ClimateAction

At the @IndiaUNNewYork roundtable on Pathways for Just Energy Transitions the the Global South today, one message is clear: The clean energy transition is here. For developing countries, it’s a once‑in‑a‑generation chance to cut import dependence, spark new industries, and lead global supply chains. We can’t let short‑term noise drown out long‑term opportunity. #ClimateAction #energyTransition

I recently met with leaders from across India’s renewable energy ecosystem, listening to different perspectives from industry, finance, policy & civil society. The message was clear: The clean energy future is within reach – but we need a system-wide transformation to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels.

Climate change is inflaming tensions over resources, forcing people from their homes & tearing at our ecosystems. Vulnerability anywhere becomes a risk everywhere – for financial systems, supply chains & global stability. That's why climate justice is an investment in peace.
