AGAIN ICE terrorized our community this morning, sending agents to a 46th District school. This time during a Pre-k graduation ceremony.
Nothing else matters if families don't feel safe. We will not backdown and will continue fighting this lawless administration, especially when that lawlessness threatens kids and families at schools.

If you are going to exercise authority over people in our communities, you should have to show your face. This session we passed legislation banning the use of face coverings during routine law enforcement activities. No more masked agents showing up in our neighborhoods without identifying themselves. Transparency is not too much to ask. It is the bare minimum in a free society.

Luke Clippinger and I spent time last week walking the entire 46th District — stopping at new schools, community health centers, senior housing, parks, rec centers, and a lot of front stoops along the way. From the South Baltimore Community Land Trust to Patterson High School to everything in between, it was a reminder of how much we have all built together. And how much is still left to do.

Thank you to Planned Parenthood of Maryland.
I've been proud to stand with Planned Parenthood advocates as a reproductive health champion for years, because the most personal decisions belong to the individual, not a politician, a court, or an insurance company.
We wrote reproductive freedom into Maryland's Constitution, and I'll never stop protecting it. A daughter born today should never grow up with fewer rights than her mother had.
This year, the Maryland General Assembly continued to protect MDers' health.
Thanks to champions like Senate President Bill Ferguson & Speaker of the House of Delegates Joseline Peña-Melnyk, MDers can make decisions about care that are backed in science, not misinformation.

When people like Missy show up for Baltimore kids the way she does, it makes this work feel worthwhile. Every teacher I know will tell you the same thing. The moment a phone comes out, learning stops.
The Maryland Phone-Free Schools Act requires every school district to develop a policy keeping phones out of the classroom — so kids can focus, connect with their classmates, and actually be present in the room.
Our teachers have been asking for this for years. Our kids are worth that investment.

I’ve achieved 100% on every Humane World legislative scorecard from my time in the Senate because I know how we treat animals reflects the kind of community we want to be. We made significant progress on limiting animal testing in the 2026 Session thanks to their partnership, and I’m grateful for their support.
