During university, I've definitely had friends who did the usual anti-immigrant spiel. As soon as he finished, I said "...but, I'm an immigrant too."
This being Canada, the subject was quickly dropped and changed.

This boggled my mind when I moved to England. A man on the train complained to me about immigrants WHILE I WAS ACTIVELY, IN THAT MOMENT, IMMIGRATING. Like, passport and suitcase, stinking like cross-Atlantic flight. I told him that & he just said “not like you” 👁️👁️
