What is best for the people of Wisconsin was getting relief today, not asking people to hope for relief next year. I am disappointed that the people of Wisconsin will suffer because politicians on both sides were unable to see this. This is politics at its worst.

🚨 @SenMarklein & @RepHurd 's Wisconsin Survivor Justice & Safety Package has passed the Assembly and is on its way to @GovEvers' desk! This bill: 1️⃣ Allow survivors to break leases to escape unsafe homes 2️⃣ Provide immunity from intoxication and drug possession so survivors can report assault without fear of arrest 3️⃣ Expand the statute of limitations to 20 years for 2nd-degree sexual assault We urge @GovEvers to sign this bill into law as soon as possible to give survivors the protection and access to justice that they deserve!

Iowa County Farm Bureau President Krista Dolan joined her state legislators, @SenMarklein and @reptoddnovak, today to testify in support of SB 645. This bill would set the standard that meals served in Wisconsin schools use butter rather than margarine. The bill includes reasonable exceptions when margarine is specifically requested or when its use is necessary to meet a student’s medical or dietary needs. This bill would ensure schools serve real dairy products while maintaining flexibility for individual health needs.

Did you know that the 17th Senate District is home to more state parks than any other district in the state? Today I did a tour of all 8 state parks and stopped in all 6 counties in my district. It was a perfect fall day to enjoy the beauty of the Driftless Region!

Starting today, Wisconsinites will no longer have to pay sales tax on their household energy bills! Because of our work in the bipartisan state budget, Wisconsin residents will effectively see a 5% cut in their electricity bill, saving ratepayers an estimated $178 million over the next two years.

This was my third budget as JFC Co-Chair and will be the third budget signed by the Governor during that time. I am very proud to have worked on a budget that provides broad tax relief and invests in ways that make Wisconsin a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

ICYMI: On Thursday JFC made a HISTORIC investment in special ed We increased the special ed reimbursement rate from 32.4% to 37.5% (the highest rate since 1996-97) by 2026-27. We also increased the high-cost special ed reimbursement rate from 24.2% to 90% by 2026-27.

Today is tax day! As you file your tax return remember that the Governor has vetoed over $4 BILLION in income tax cuts for hardworking Wisconsinites since taking office. @WisSenGOP will work to cut taxes and protect your checkbook while funding Wisconsin's obligations!

I’m very disappointed to see this decision from the Governor. This bill would’ve returned Wisconsin to the same national standards Governor Evers aligned us with when he was superintendent. Lowering the bar does nothing to help student achievement.
