School being out means that it is time for the Chesterton Summer Fun Program! For nearly 80 years, the Summer Fun Program has been a place for children to make memories while enjoying arts and crafts, sports, games, and more.

The Summer Fun Program at Chesterton Park will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning on June 8 and ending on July 31. This program is completely free, and you can register at Chesterton Park from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. on any day when the program’s in session!

After today’s Legislative Council meeting, I am pleased to announce that worker’s compensation matters will be studied this interim after I submitted this topic for consideration following years of discussion and data collection with our labor unions.

From 2016-2023, there was no increase in benefits whatsoever. While I was proud to fight for legislation that increased the benefits by 3% each year from 2023 to 2026, we need to further increase them to account for both inflation and the previous, years-long lack of increases.
