It’s finally done. After 7 years of blood and sweat and countless tears. It is finally done.

I was first elected to the Utah State Senate at the age of 32, in a district that nobody thought would vote for a conservative. I won by listening and respecting voters from all parties. I have now served more than half my adult life. #utpol #utleg #forward #fwd 1/5

In accordance with state law, the Forward Party and I will take this opportunity to carry out a first-of-its-kind, open and honest replacement process. 4/5

It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve in the State Senate. I will continue to serve to the best of my ability as this process unfolds; a better process, that respects all voters, and restores the representation necessary for a functional republic. Time to move FORWARD. 5/5

Exactly 2 years ago today, my son was born. It was a rough start. 15 days in the hospital. Because of modern medicine and skilled doctors at ⁦@UofUHealth⁩ he is healthy, brilliant, happy, and knows the proper response to, “I love you”.

My recovery is going very well. There was not a medical issue yesterday. My condition is well managed. The treatment is time, limiting head movement, and heart rate management. I will be participating in the session in person T,Th, and remotely M,W,F and resting as needed.

I regret that so much concern was directed to my effort to reduce my heart rate after an emotional debate, and so little towards the families and children that may be harmed by this bad legislation. If you are struggling please use SafeUT or 988 to get help. Please stay. ;

This Thanksgiving I’m grateful to the amazing nursing staff at the hospital who helped arrange this weekend visit with Angus. I am still under therapeutic care as a precaution and hope to be home soon.

I overdid things a bit Friday & was instructed to return to the hospital if certain symptoms recurred. I'm awake, active in my recovery plan, & am expected to fully recover. I have an amazing medical team and complete faith in their skills. Thanks for your concern and prayers.

Every day I am grateful for this woman. She is courageous, brilliant, and always encourages me to be better. God bless all #Veterans every day, and especially mine. I love you, Summer.

If you didn’t know, Deidre Henderson is the single best person that I have ever know that is willing to serve in office. There isn’t a close second. There is a top 10 list somewhere… Deidre is alone at the top.
As we emerge from Election Day, I want to thank every candidate who stepped up to run for office—especially those whose races didn’t turn out how they’d hoped. Losing sucks (ask me how I know), but your participation makes society stronger and government better, so thank you.

Women also rarely consider running for office without strong encouragement. Get involved. Learn the people and process. Come to the Capitol during session. It’s your building! Yes. It’s terrible. Worse than you probably think. Still, infinitely better then not doing it.

Did you know that women make up almost half of the population & they make nearly 85% of the consumer buying decisions? For those reasons alone more women need to be in office, having a voice on issues. However, in addition to that, women need to VOTE! #utpol

For those asking what you can do… this past week has strained babysitting time from our closest family members. If anyone is interested in being present to catch this energetic 19 month old, let me know. That is really what I need. Just a few hours of backup.

For those who have not heard, I suffered a stroke Monday night and have been in the expert hands of Jordan Valley’s doctors. I am home, resting as comfortably as Angus allows, and show no lasting impairment. Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. I still abide.

Coinciding with NAMI Mental Illness Awareness Week, CSG West honors the work of @SenThatcher and his Utah colleagues. Their persistence since 2013 culminated in July's national rollout of the @988Lifeline. More about its Utah origins... kuer.org/health-science-envi… #NAMI
