In what can only be described as a surprise move, the @England manager #Thomastuchel has called up #SenMonro to play alongside @HKane in The World Cup. Sen who scored loads of goals in the Campri Leasure Wear league for @Harpenden_Town in his youth, Tudor Primary and Finchley Manorhill Schools, learnt tactics from watching @BBCMOTD, reading Roy Of The Rovers, playing @SubbuteoOficial and spying on @SouthamptonFC before it was even a thing! Sen would also love to play for @SpursOfficial @acunilicali @Fenerbahce #türkiye and @HullCity because of his Turkish heritage. @trpresidency @Turkiye. Back in 1988 I somehow ended up on Blind Date with Cilla Black — peak Saturday night TV! Here I met some wonderful people like Amanda Holden and Nina Wadia.
While the show was looking for romance, I found something better: lifelong friendship. I met some wonderful people, but the real gift was meeting my dear friend Jofi Alexander — the brother I never had.
For 35 years the Alexander family have treated me as one of their own. From visiting my mum Feriha in her final days to sharing life’s big moments together, Jofi’s friendship has meant more than I can say. I attended the funeral of Jofi’s father this weekend. He was a remarkable man.
Amazing to think a TV show brought us together. Thank you LWT.
