At estimates two weeks ago, senators were told that every government agency that was required (in February 2025) to publish a statement about how they use AI had done so.
Here's what the statement of one 'compliant agency' looks like right now. Does this look transparent to you?
Yesterday, the Senate held a hearing into wage theft laws. What did we learn?
- There have still been no referrals made
- Experts believe it may be years until a case ends up in court
- Wage theft laws don't treat theft of super as wage theft
Much more to be done in this area.
When the Government spends $49.5 million and 15 months enforcing the new wage theft laws, with zero referrals to police, someone needs to ask: Why?
I did. And my Senate inquiry to get answers is going ahead.
Workers deserve a law that actually works.
THIS IS A MESSAGE FROM THE POLICE:
Senator Payman has been arrested for insider trading to the tune of $75 million dollars. The below evidence was submitted to us by a 58-year-old Queensland man with a profile pic of a Holden.
The results are in: 70% of kids under 16 are STILL on social media! The social media ban has been used as cover by the government to avoid the hard decisions like banning gambling advertising. A joke of a policy that has left our kids less safe.
Recently, an inquiry into NDIS fraud began, but by a government-controlled committee that excludes independents. Australians with disabilities deserve better than a sham inquiry. That's why I supported Senator Hanson's motion for a proper inquiry into NDIS fraud.
Deleted and reworded this post as the wording was a bit unclear. The government-controlled committee (Joint Committee on NDIS) began an inquiry into NDIS fraud following a letter from the NDIS Minister referring it to them, so there was no vote on that.
You might not feel it yet, but the next big shortage is fertiliser. Higher cost to grow food = Higher groceries. We can fix this problem ourselves. We have all the elements we need to produce our own fertiliser in WA! What do you think?
In answer to Senate Estimates questions I asked, the Defence department revealed that, despite their drive to reduce the number of top ADF personnel which began in July, the number of star ranked officers has actually grown since 2023!
