It is a little past 3 a.m., and we just voted on a nearly $56 billion budget that includes more than $800 million in new taxes, fees, and revenue enhancements and sweeps $150 million of sales tax funds generated by fuel. Here are my immediate thoughts.

It's official. The currently filed budget sweeps $150M in โsurplusโ sales tax revenue created by higher gas prices to fund special interest programs. IL already has some of the highest tax burdens in the nation, yet Democrats continues searching for new ways to spend.
