🇲🇲 NEW: The Myanmar military junta is increasingly using commercial paramotors and gyrocopters to carry out targeted attacks on civilians, including schools, hospitals, monasteries, and peaceful gatherings, @FortifyRights said today. “The Myanmar military has found new ways to kill civilians from the sky using paramotors and gyrocopters equipped with operator-released, unguided explosives,” said @sengchit, Human Rights Associate at @FortifyRights. “As Myanmar faces a fifth year under the junta's rule, governments must urgently sanction the transfer of weapons, aviation fuel, and dual-use technologies to Myanmar—including the components used to assemble paramotors and gyrocopters.” @FortifyRights urges U.N. member states to enforce and expand sanctions to stop these attacks, which may amount to war crimes. While it’s honorable to protect those who joined the CDM movement, it is important to distinguish between those who actively supported junta abuses and those who remained in their roles due to fear, necessity, or lack of choices.
