The disagreement over money and ownership is what has made Eminem and Dr. Dre more distant recently.
Sources say Eminem has been asking for a bigger ownership share in Shady Records, the label they co-founded in 1999. He reportedly feels he has been a major force behind its success for over 25 years and deserves more control.
Dr. Dre, on the other hand, is said to disagree. He believes Eminem already has a fair deal and isnโt willing to give up more ownership in his companies, including Aftermath and Shady Records.
One insider explained it like this:
โEm feels heโs been carrying the label for years and should own more of it. Dre feels heโs already been more than fair. Itโs causing tension between them.โ
