After the Ukrainian woman was murdered, the mayor issued a statement exclusively defending the homeless and mentally ill.
No mention of the killer’s 14 arrests and multiple felonies.
Our empathy keeps getting used to excuse evil.
And it’s literally killing us.

There is a double standard in how the media covers interracial violence.
When the victim is black, it’s national news.
When the victim is white, it’s often ignored.
This is called selection bias.
And it’s creating division.
The goal is equality.
Not to flip inequality.
