After having seen a demo during our conversation, I'm convinced that using dumplink will feel like finally getting a Makita power tool after having used cheap store-brand tools all your life for many software teams (*cough* Jira *cough*).

We cover: 🤦 How change requires us to perceive a struggle, 🧠 Why it's better to reason from principles than come in with "a hot new framework", 🏢 The frictions that exist within a large organization, and how to navigate them, 🤓 Ilya's unique story of how he met @bmoesta

Often adopting @rjs's Shape Up is product/leadership led but it’s hugely beneficial for engineers - more focus time, more autonomy, better ownership and less context switching. It was great to talk on @ShapersBuilders from the perspective of an IC: shapersbuilders.transistor.f…

🎙️E8: How to Drive Bottom-up Adoption of Shape Up When I hear case studies of teams adopting #ShapeUp, it's often someone in a leadership role bringing it up, coordinating the first trial, and advocating for a change in how the teams work. I really enjoyed hearing @cboakes' story, because it's one of an individual contributor bringing about change, seeing opportunities for improvement, and passionately going after them. From personal experience, I know there are a lot of ICs in engineering, product, and design who are fans of Shape Up and would love to give it a shot. Maybe you all feel encouraged to take a page out of Chris' playbook, which he spills in today's episode! 😏 Listen here: share.transistor.fm/s/f19e68…

🎙️E7: Building the Team You'd Want to Be On (with @david_sabata, CTO at @ROIHuntercom) In the latest episode of the Shapers & Builders podcast, David walked me through the implementation of Shape Up at ROI Hunter. I love how David frames his personal North Star as "Building an engineering culture that's so good that he'd happily step back into an individual contributor role tomorrow". What resonated a lot with me was how David mentioned that he can never imagine going back to Scrum or Kanban after having worked with Shape Up now. It's the exact same reason why I built the Shapers & Builders job board in 2020 after store2be got shut down, where I'd worked with Shape Up. 👉 Listen here for the full interview with David: share.transistor.fm/s/b18d5b…

Bonus episode! 🥳 A few weeks ago, I had the tremendous pleasure of talking with @MirelaMus about fractional and interim product management, #shapeup (of course!), and the overall landscape of software delivery practices. This bonus episode briefly breaks with the general theme for season 1 of the Shapers & Builders podcast. We still talk about Mirela's experience with shape up – but given the breadth of companies that Mirela and her team at @Product__People get to work with, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get her insights on many more topics. I hope you enjoy our conversation, and we'll of course have many more case studies of companies using Shape Up coming up! 🙂 Listen here 👉 share.transistor.fm/s/3c0ea2…

One of the things that I like most about working with Shape up is the sensations of the cycle start A new opportunity to try new things and launch new features.  All the projects of the last cycles were shipped or maybe not, but a new page is turned over and nothing gets carried on. A new horizon awaits, a new opportunity to redeem.

New episode alert! 🎙️ share.transistor.fm/s/bcd121… In episode 5, I speak with @boennemann about how the team at prosperity solutions made the switch to #shapeup. What I loved about our conversation was Stephan's introspection about the (faulty) assumptions he made early on regarding how "Everyone would love to work this way!" and how the team is now set up to cater to a variety of profiles. So if you're thinking about giving Shape Up a try, this episode will be full of watch-outs and learnings. Enjoy!
