Simply reporting on the facts of the world is the surest way to dismantle the racist, paranoid, plutocratic assumptions that form the nucleus of the right-wing worldview. When you believe that climate change is a Chinese hoax and that Donald Trump is an upstanding Christian gentleman, neutral reporting starts to look left-wing. Although these donations are incredibly welcome, we can't rely solely on private benefactors to keep NPR afloat. When Democrats retake power, we must pump funding back into NPR and PBS — not only restoring what they once received, but increasing it. Now, more than ever, this nation needs access to reliable information. “While these investments are extraordinary, they do not replace federal funding,” Maher stated. “The permanent loss of more than $1 billion in federal funding has created significant financial pressure across all of public media.
