We are waiting for the judge and jury to hear a verdict in the #HernandezTrial. I talked with the #BPD officer’s family, who died in the pursuit, they say they’re optimistic about the ruling.

Judge Lua finished reading charges in #HernandezTrial. Hernandez facing 5 charges: 2nd degree murder, evading an officer causing death, possession of fire arm, possession of ammo and carrying loaded fire arm with prior felony. Court is in recess. Closing arguments to follow.

The #JulianHernandez trial is on lunch recess. Talked with both lawyers on their way out. Both have no comments about the case, but both still aren’t expecting a full day.

Also during the mid-morning recess #JulianHernandez’s lawyer questioned why a shotgun the isn’t in working order without a stock would be significant to this case and why his client should face charges pertaining to the shotgun.

Most interesting part of today’s #JulianHernandez trial was the part of the mid-morning break on the record without the jury about the significance of the DNA on the shotgun and shell found near the pursuit and the shotgun itself.

Judge Lua of the #JulianHernandez trial with the jury on break said, just because a person’s DNA is on evidence doesn’t directly link them to the crime because we don’t know when that DNA was placed on the evidence.

During the afternoon of the #JulianHernandez trial the prosecution brought in 3 BPD officers to testify about prior run-ins with Hernandez. Twice they say he ran away from #BPD the other they say he offered to fight an officer out of his uniform. #Bakersfield

Detective finishes on the stand in #JulianHernandez trial. Prosecution showed 3 surveillance videos with estimated speeds of 102, 91 & 66 mph and estimates the suspect ran at least one stop sign. #Bakersfield

Julian Hernandez’s back in court. He’s facing 5 felonies including 2nd degree murder and evading officer causing death. The prosecution has a detective on the stand explaining how they used surveillance footage to determine Hernandez was driving 102mph during pursuit on Haley St.
