Iβm a Palestinian football journalist who was in contact with the Palestinian Football Association during the genocide and has covered most of the sporting tragedy in Gaza, including the mass murder of athletes & mass destruction of the sports scene.
Thereβs an obvious misunderstanding of the geopolitical events happening worldwide within the PFA and pressure from the very notorious Palestinian Authority on them.
This is definitely not the position of Palestinians. The Palestiniansβ position is clear: Ban the game against Israel.
The Palestinian Football Association has thanked the FAI following the decision to fulfil Irelandβs upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Israel.
In a statement released by the FAI, the Palestinian Football Association said:
βThe Palestinian Football Association expresses its appreciation for the principled positions taken by the Football Association of Ireland in support of the rights of the Palestinian people and Palestinian athletes. The Palestinian Football Association also affirms its respect for the decision made by the Football Association of Ireland within the framework of its sporting and international obligations.β
The statement comes after the FAI confirmed that Irelandβs Nations League fixture against Israel on October 4th will be played at a neutral venue behind closed doors following approval from UEFA.

The entire argument about 'degrowth', 'pigouvian taxes' and so on is kinda lame, because the main issue is that even gently trying to shift consumer preferences around fuel through taxes/taking away subsidies tends to result in massive political backlash.

Get the entirety of the UN to sign onto Pigouvian taxes on negative externalities then, I guess.
