इंटरनेट पर बनारस का यह वीडियो आजकल हर जगह दिख रहा है। पहली नज़र में लगा कि शायद इसके विज़ुअल्स की वजह से लोग इसे पसंद कर रहे हैं, पर जब गाने के शब्दों को गहराई से समझा और थोड़ा सर्च किया, तो रोंगटे खड़े हो गए। यह महज़ एक लोक गीत नहीं, बल्कि हमारे इतिहास का वो पन्ना है जो कहीं खो गया था। कोक स्टूडियो भारत के इस गीत में एंग्लो-बर्मीज़ युद्ध के समय के हालात छिपे हैं। सबसे ख़ास बात यह है कि इसमें उस दौर की महिलाओं के उस अनकहे दर्द और तड़प को दिखाया गया है, जो युद्ध पर गए अपने पतियों का महीनों लंबा इंतज़ार करती थीं। हमारा इतिहास सिर्फ किताबों में नहीं, बल्कि इन गीतों में भी ज़िंदा है।
