Big announcement: I'm launching Refound, to help companies rebuild themselves and become AI-Native. A year ago I left my role as Head of Studio at Forum Ventures, where we'd built 14 AI companies in just two years. Most of the companies we built were aimed at enterprises investing heavily in AI and looking for solutions to support them. When I left, I wanted to build AI solutions for small and medium businesses, to help them compete with the big companies. Over the course of 2025, I worked with dozens of companies, helping them build AI automations and workflows. What I realized working with them is that most companies think of AI as a tool. They use it to analyze a document or summarize an email or write a blog post, and that's about it. They're working the same way, but incrementally faster. For example, the marketing team at a large SaaS company wanted me to help them produce more content with AI. They had tried ChatGPT, Claude, and other tools to generate content but they ended up spending lots of time to edit it, so their gains were incremental at best. The problem is, they thought they could just bolt on AI while working the same way and it would magically improve everything. But AI isn't a tool. It's a platform shift on par with the internet and mobile. And the most valuable companies in the world today, like Amazon and Apple, got here because they became internet-first and mobile-first. To help that marketing team, I audited their entire workflow, from coming up with content ideas, to doing research, to writing and editing content, to publishing and promoting. And then we redesigned the entire thing with AI at the core, automating the manual and time-consuming work while freeing up the team to focus on the creative and strategic work. The result was a 4X increase in the content they produced, while maintaining their quality standards. I think every company should be doing this and that's why I'm creating Refound. We help you unbundle workflows, processes, even people's roles, and rebuild with AI at the center. We help re-found your business and win in the AI age. So here's my offer: I want to give you a taste of what this could look like for you and your business. I'm offering free 30-minute strategy sessions this month to talk about your stretch goals for 2026, and show you how you can get there faster and smarter with AI.

The craziest part is there has been billions of dollars poured into developing bigger and bigger models. Every investor, fund, and bank has money in the pot, and the astronomical valuations hinge on the presumption that the market is global. To restrict models to just American citizens significantly reduces the TAM and valuation. If this sticks there will be a massive correction. Sell those shares and secondaries while you can

Jokes aside the government response is pretty stupid too. They’re essentially placing a soft cap on how much intelligence their citizens can access. If the directive stays, this is not good for American AI companies. Conversely, it allows other nations to catch up and eclipse the US in AI development

Anthropic: you guys this new model is so powerful, if it got into the wrong hands, it’s over. But ok you can have access to it. Government: uhh this sounds like a national security risk, stop giving people access. Anthropic: there has been a giant misunderstanding!

If it’s any consolation, Fable is probably overkill for your ai slop project anyway

Fucking idiots went on and on about how Mythos is so dangerous and now they’re paying the price for the fear mongering.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

I asked Claude Fable 5 the famous Peter Thiel question - What very important truth do very few people agree with you on? This is what it told me…

I’m looking for people in Toronto who can help me pull off the 2nd season of Toronto School of Foundation Modelling. Have a few exciting guest speakers locked in already. I have more ambitious goals for this season. I’m looking for someone who - can actually commit time every week to planning season 2. Talk is cheap, you want to do the work alongside me - fairly technical / has the appetite to learn intensely - you love learning and feel energized by the process and not just the outcome These are my promises: You’ll be paid for your work. You will learn a lot. Your name will be everywhere TSFM is. You’ll feel fulfilled by the impact you’ll have on the people here and you’ll be left inspired by the commitment the cohort will exhibit.

NYC has the worst skyline ever. Can’t even see the mountains. Just buildings all the way.

Legend has it that @cremieuxrecueil hand picked every single book here for his tech week meetup last night

Hey @AnthropicAI, a friend of mine upgraded from Team to Enterprise via self-service by mistake and can’t move back down. They haven’t been able to reach anyone on the sales team either. Can you help?

This has been super helpful in planning my week. If only they used a better app for signing up to events because Partiful has an atrocious UX. Luma is way better.
the official a16z nyc tech week site has 1,601 events and 0 useful filters. i built a better one with a chatbot that tells you where to go. nyc-tech-week.vercel.app
