Mangrove and seagrass ecosystems are the cornerstone of @OceanusPH’s efforts. Research indicates that mangroves sequester four to five times more carbon than terrestrial forests meanwhile seagrass capture carbon 35times faster than terrestrial forest. This underscores the urgency of Oceanus Conservation’s mission to safeguard the last remaining blue carbon ecosystems in the Philippines. It is also with Oceanus Conservation’s site in Cagwait, Philippines that GainForest piloted its Measure-To-Earn technology compensating 40 local community members who engaged in mangrove planting and tree data collection. Funded by @CeloOrg through a workflow provided by Thinking Machines, Oceanus has successfully trained its partner local communities to collect data and onboarded it on GainForest’s #GreenGlobe.
