When you’re working behind the bar and a 20-strong hen party orders six pitchers of Blue Lagoon
OK, I’m a little concerned for Curaçao now…

No image has ever better captured our sense of cultural exhaustion, our sense that it's all been done before, than this one:

Plenty of fancy theories, but ultimately I think it’s just that other sports are more popular (to play anyway)
Why isn’t China better at soccer

I particularly don’t buy the maverick hypothesis, that may put a ceiling on your performance but China is well below it. There’s plenty of less well resourced and populous dictatorships with national teams far better than China’s (Uzbekistan springs to mind!)

Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough! It isn’t fit for humans now The same population as Curacao Swarm over, death!
Replying to @DPJHodges
Curacao has a population of roughly the same as the town of Slough . 158000. Some useless information for anyone that's interested .

Actually I think the first 4 teams to play in 1930, France, USA, Belgium and Mexico, all fielded teams entirely born outside of Morocco
🚨 𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪: Morocco has become the FIRST national team in history to line up 11 players that are ALL born outside Morocco. 🇨🇦 Bono (Montreal) 🇳🇱 Noussair Mazraoui (Leiderdorp) 🇫🇷 Issa Diop (Toulouse) 🇪🇸 Chadi Riad (Palma) 🇪🇸 Achraf Hakimi (Madrid) 🇫🇷 Neil El Aynaoui (Nancy) 🇫🇷 Ayyoub Bouaddi (Senlis) 🇧🇪 Chemsdine Talbi (Sambreville) 🇧🇪 Bilal El Khannouss (Molenbeek) 🇫🇷 Samir El Mourabet (Strasbourg) 🇪🇸 Ismael Saibari (Terrassa)

Alonso has the energy of a seedy serial adulterer repeatedly slinking back to his wife after his latest fling with each year’s hottest new debutant ends in tears
🚨 | Paddock rumours suggest Fernando Alonso could make a shock return to Alpine in 2027 for a "last dance" with the team. Aston Martin's mid-season development will be crucial in whether Alonso commits to the project for another year. [@Motorsport_IT]

Britain is one of the few places in the world where houses by the coast don’t have a price premium. The usual explanation is economic deprivation of coastal communities; what if it’s because our beaches are so uniquely easy to get to meaning no demand to buy a home near them?
This map does a good job in explaining the German longing for Italy (we even have a word for that longing: Italiensehnsucht)

Live in London, you can get to Brighton or Hastings in an hour, you can easily pop down for the day. Live in Paris or Lyon, it takes so long to get there day trips aren’t worth it, may as well stay the weekend. Do that on a regular basis? May as well buy a second home

You can’t get from London to the South coast by car in under an hour. No way. You can by train though.
