Six years ago this afternoon Trump closed the country over a chest cold, the biggest peacetime blunder in American history.
Β
He told us we had to do this because hospitals would be overwhelmed, but much like those weapons of mass destruction we never found in Iraq, you'd be hard-pressed to find a doctor in 2020-2021 who saw more patients than 2019. Most hospitals saw HISTORIC LOW VOLUMES. And thousands of middle-age parents died at home from preventable conditions like heart attacks and strokes, too scared to visit their local hospitals for fear of "overwhelming" the mostly-empty ERs.
Β
Schools were closed on the Trump admin's advice (test scores have never recovered). Nursing homes were locked down, condemning countless grandparents to lonely and confused deaths. Returning Americans from abroad were subjected to two-weeks of forcible quarantines behind barbed wire at military bases. Trillions were spent trying to track/trace a virus that everyone would eventually contract (as we knew they would). Entire industries were shuttered, like the multi-billion dollar cruise industry, shut down at the order of the Trump's government. Much of the historic inflation we faced in 2021-2022 was because of Trump's generational blunder. For years Con Inc screeched about accountability. "Never forget!" they preached.

And yet.....Boomercons and older Gen-Xers preferred entertainment (Gulf of America!, Greenland!) over competency and accountability. Bread and circus. Future generations be damned. Enjoy the show, folks!
