Ended up being that the final destiny 2 update came out in the middle of a vacation that I had planned prior to the news. I figure I kind of missed the boat, and everybody is farming the situation for views already. Doesn’t seem like my place.

Marathon’s biggest problem is that extracting is rarely ever exciting. In Arc Raiders, every extract point was guarded by a major enemy (Rocketeer, Leaper, etc). You never ever felt safe until you made it out.
Especially when the game was new, every extract was hype. Most marathon extracts are just waltzing up to the thing, calling it, and then leaving.

I think the Marathon community is so used to being shitted on, that they immediately assume I’m some grifter with 5 hours of playtime that wants Marathon to be destroyed.

Arc Raiders also narrows down the number of open extracts as the match progresses, acting like a soft funnel that concentrates the action onto specific parts of the map. Marathon extracts pop up all over the map, seemingly at random.

For those unfamiliar, LikeButta owned all of the top leaderboard spots during the alpha and beta. He posted this montage on the Bungie forums and it went viral (for 2014 standards). He was kind of the first recognized "best player" in the game.
