I refuse to believe TLJ used the original Yoda puppet mold or whatever, I will not be gaslit. These do NOT look the same at all

Re: Backrooms I find stories are allowed to tell you what they're about. It's called storyTELLING. "Oh great, the deeper meaning is that it's about trauma and vicious mental cycles. We cracked it." No, that's the premise. Any deeper meaning to "crack" lies beneath that.

"Show, don't tell" being treated like an objective storytelling law that needs to be applied to every scene in every work, ever, does much more harm than good. Granted, any art "rule" being used in such an authoritative, pseudo-scientific way does.

I'm so happy for people who have yet to discover that Obsession probably isn't even a top 250 horror movie of all time

Yeah, it's called being the main characters
Backrooms only worked because of these two. They carried the whole film

Backrooms is growing on me. I didn't realize how much it unsettled me until last night when all my dreams felt eerie because I was hyper-vigilant of anything that looked "unreal" (ie. everything when I'm dreaming). Any art that accomplishes something like that deserves an 8/10
Most of the movie I was just thinking: "Wow that's a fucked-up room... Oh man that's a REALLY fucked-up room.... .... Oh DUDE that room is SO fucked-up!" Great time 7/10

I don't think I've seen a fall to the Dark Side that is less sympathetic

Backrooms is a fantastic psychological spook. Too psychological, for some, and I gotta admit, for an Eldritch/cosmic horror concept, it's maybe a bit too unsurprising. Nothing about it surprised me. But it's precisely the things I recognized and remembered that made it work.

Also, in my very, yrev personal opinion, it nailed the thematic, philosophical and psychological meaning of the original Twin Peaks series's Black Lodge better than Twin Peaks season 3, which some people like to call by its external, promotional title "The Return", did.

Which doesn't make season 3 bad. I just like dreams to have meanings. Humans dream, and they're meaning machines. Great film.

Sounds bad, UNLESS they run to The Left/Right Game. Do run there.

Liam Neeson in Phantom Menace also plays Qui-Gon as a sort of trickster. Constantly cuts corners and does sneaky underhanded stuff. I like to think it's meant to be a sort of nod or parallel
Obviously impossible to watch A New Hope not knowing that Vader is Luke's father but, to the best of my ability, trying to block it out: Alec Guinness is absolutely, unambiguously playing obi-wan as a lying bastard in every scene between the tusken raiders and the cantina

This is so politically incorrect it makes me want to do a woke cancel culture
