On June 9th, Jefferson Parish Firefighter Lieutenant Dennis Casey was laid to rest. Our Honor Guard represented and showed support, Alan Novak, Joel Truett, Albert Evans, and Larry Martin. They joined the procession with Engine 11 and FP17. We are proud to stand with our brothers and sisters to honor Lt. Casey’s service and sacrifice. One of our rookie firefighters Ryan Welch just completed his first official save… and it was a duckling rescue! The crew carefully fished the little guys out and reunited the family. Mama duck was pacing nervously the entire time, quacking up a storm, but once her babies were safe and sound? Total mom win — she was one happy duck! #SlidellFire #Firefighter

🚒 The 17th Annual Fit as a Firefighter Camp is in full swing at Camp Villere! 🔥 Running strong thanks to our great partners at Slidell Memorial Hospital and Ochsner Health. It kicked off Monday with Chief Kaufmann welcoming all the kids, followed by an awesome visit from the Ochsner Flight Care helicopter! The campers are having a blast — every day is packed with activities that keep them active, learning, and having fun. Even when the treadmills were full, people were still running around Headquarters. The support was amazing! Huge thanks to everyone who came out, cheered us on, donated, or honked as they drove by — especially Slidell Police and Acadian Ambulance. We also had a special visit from 4-year-old Bear to help out again! Shoutout to Tim Harrison and Norman Loustalot for each doing impressive 50 miles each and set this up! Our team at Station 15, along with DC1 and FP17, devised a plan using a 24' extension ladder to get the pup back on land safely. A Good Samaritan is fostering the pup in hopes of finding the owner. 👩‍🚒 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞-𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! 🚒 On August 10, 2025, approximately 5:15 AM, our crews responded to a serious crash on I-10 East, where a vehicle had flipped over. Upon arrival, crews were informed of a possible second vehicle that had left the roadway and overturned in the underbrush/tree line. Once located, crews used the Hurst Jaws of Life to successfully extricate the trapped occupant in a critical rescue. For their exceptional efforts, the personnel involved received the prestigious Hurst Jaws of Life Green Cross Awards — an honor given to those who have used Hurst tools to save a life. As part of the recognition, the rescuers had the chance to meet Meagan, the survivor from that morning’s accident. Congratulations to all the firefighters and first responders involved — true heroes who train hard and perform when it matters most!
