Omar Artan, the Somali referee who was barred from entering the U.S. due to allegations of terror ties, will receive full payment from FIFA for the 2026 World Cup despite not being able to participate.
The 34-year-old, named CAF Men’s Referee of the Year in 2025, was detained and deported from Miami. FIFA confirmed he will be paid up to $100,000, a base fee for selected referees, and will also officiate the 2026 UEFA Super Cup.
