Snohomish County offices are closed in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026. All residents are encouraged to honor this day of remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation. There is a national moment of remembrance at 3 p.m. to pause for one minute of silence. County leaders were joined by the Command Master Chief of Naval Station Everett, the Mayor of Everett, the Lynnwood Times, and other guests to recognize Memorial Day during a County Council meeting last week. Thursday, January 8, marked an exciting milestone in advancing sustainable aviation. Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers joined state and local leaders, industry experts, and key partners in celebrating the launch of the Cascadia Sustainable Aviation Accelerator (CSAA) during an event at Boeing Future of Flight. "This initiative will be successful because it is grounded here, in the communities where aviation, manufacturing and clean energy intersect," Somers said. "CSAA builds on the infrastructure, workforce and partnerships we have already put in place, and this is just the beginning. Coalition partners like Washington State University are eager to partner in the establishment of a world class research and development facility adjacent to Paine Field. Combined with our region’s aviation industry cluster, these developments ensure we will be a leader in global aviation sustainability and investment well into the future.” Unlike traditional jet fuel, SAF is formulated from sustainable feedstocks, like crop seed oil, agricultural and forestry waste. A Disaster Assistance Center offering information and services to assist those affected by recent flooding will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 11 and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 13 and Jan. 14. Snohomish County Solid Waste has authorized a flood voucher program to support the disposal needs of residential households directly impacted by flooding. Affected residents are welcome to bring accepted items to any of our facilities free of charge with an official flood voucher through Sunday, January 18. Here’s your daily public service announcement to follow all posted signage on our shared roadways. “Road Closed” and “Water Over Roadway” signs are placed for a reason.
