Receiving international payments (in USD or any other foreign currency) has always been an issue for Maldivian makers operating in global retail markets. No retail customer will reasonably purchase goods/services for which they have to initiate wire transfers and wait several days for it to settle. The payment gateways offered by BML and MIB are inadequate and offer no solution for recurring payments as is the norm for SaaS/PaaS products.
Receiving USD in Maldives was never really the issue. BML might occasionally place a hold on incoming funds, but once you provide an invoice (genuine or fake), they release the money.
The real challenge has always been sending USD abroad.
Does PayPal solve that problem?
No.
