Because mental health is so critical for student performance, next year we are rolling out an additional set of standardized assessments that will evaluate students’ social emotional aptitude. These assessments will provide invaluable data regarding stressors in students’ lives.

Or we could acknowledge that having virtual options includes more parents and caregivers. Broader access. More equitable. Not all parents are college professors with flexible schedules. Being able to zoom in to read on a lunch break at their job creates more opportunities.

As a district we need to change the way we approach NAAPID. The focus needs to be on why this system hasn't/isn't a welcoming place for our Black families and changeing that. We really need to unpack what being "involved" means outside of the white gaze. #naapid22
