Because mental health is so critical for student performance, next year we are rolling out an additional set of standardized assessments that will evaluate students’ social emotional aptitude.
These assessments will provide invaluable data regarding stressors in students’ lives.
Or we could acknowledge that having virtual options includes more parents and caregivers. Broader access. More equitable. Not all parents are college professors with flexible schedules. Being able to zoom in to read on a lunch break at their job creates more opportunities.

As a district we need to change the way we approach NAAPID. The focus needs to be on why this system hasn't/isn't a welcoming place for our Black families and changeing that. We really need to unpack what being "involved" means outside of the white gaze. #naapid22

Prior to COVID, my work was on maternal mortality. About 700 birthing people die each year. The federal gov dedicated $100 mill to address this. We have a campaign- chasing zero, with a goal of eliminating maternal death.

I’m a former 8th grade classroom teacher. Let me be blunt: inserting MORE guns in schools—and trying to arm teachers—is about as dangerous & destructive a response as I can imagine.

A bill is being drafted in the state legislature that would give schools and teachers the ability to have a weapon in their class under lock and key.
