💬 Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO,
@getmalyona: “Today Ukraine’s partnership with NATO is not only deep and substantial, but also becoming increasingly innovative.”
The Head of the Ukrainian Mission to NATO took part in the discussion “Less than Membership, but More than Partnership: What NATO Truly Provides for Ukraine?”, organised by
@NEC_Ukraine.
Key points stressed by the Head of the Mission:
🔹 Article 5 of the Washington Treaty remains the role-model upon which security guarantees are based. Ukraine itself, in developing security arrangements with its partners, is guided precisely by the logic of Article 5
🔹 Something unprecedented is constantly happening in Ukraine–NATO relations. A striking example is Ukraine’s participation in NATO exercises under Article 5 previously reserved exclusively for Allies
🔹 Since 2025, NATO has acquired a new role and significance in providing assistance to Ukraine. The Alliance is now doing a great deal not only to coordinate military support for Ukraine but also to advocate for and mobilise additional assistance
🔹 Preserving the prospect of Ukraine’s future NATO membership is not only about the possibility of obtaining security guarantees. It is also about safeguarding sovereignty, which is impossible without maintaining the right to freely choose alliances
During the event, an analytical paper, “Squeezing the Most out of It: How NATO’s Support for Ukraine Has Evolved,” will be presented as well as the results of a recent public opinion survey on Ukrainians’ attitudes toward NATO.
