The latest One Night Only dinner with
@sohohouse took us to Dublin this week for another Cities Without Houses members event.
For this one, Michelin-starred
@Solstice_ncl travelled over from Newcastle to take over Note Dublin, with executive chef Scott John-Hodgson leading the kitchen for the night. Cooking the entire menu from scratch in an unfamiliar space, he and the team delivered the sort of finely tuned, quietly ambitious food that has made Solstice one of the most exciting restaurants in the North East.
What made the night work especially well was the way the menu still felt connected to where it was being served. Alongside a number of Solstice signatures, Irish ingredients were woven through the courses too — from Connemara oyster and Killybegs haddock to Sliabh Aughty heather honey — giving the dinner a real sense of place rather than feeling dropped in from elsewhere. There were plenty of standout moments across the menu, from smoked eel brandade and duck liver parfait to scallop tartare, guinea fowl served in two parts and a brilliant final run of petits fours.
Another very good match of kitchen and setting, and another reminder of how special these nights can be when you put the right restaurant in the right room. More to come with Soho House and Cities Without Houses.
